I am often reminded of someone years ago who was helping me deal with the current struggle of the moment at that time in my life. I was so focused on wanting to change the circumstances and he said to me, “Learn to find the grace of the moment and embrace it. Once you do, it will lead you to the next moment and the grace therein.”
Every moment of our life here, our day, our circumstance, our struggle, our joy, holds a grace tied to it that if embraced will lead us to the next moment and its own grace. We often try to rid ourselves of the moment especially when it is uncomfortable or unwanted. In doing so, we miss its grace – its lesson, so to speak, its power. Embracing the grace of a moment gives us better clarity, better perspective. It brings peace. And when we discover that grace, we are better able to move on to the next moment and its own grace.
Sometimes we put so much energy into wanting to be in another place, another moment, that we lose sight of what is right before us that will naturally lead us to the next place.
Today learn to embrace the moment and its own special grace. Tomorrow will always come, but if we miss the grace of the moment today we may miss the moment of tomorrow – the next today.
